What Is the Difference Between CBD and THC?

CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are common cannabinoids that you’ll find in cannabis products. They are abundant in both cannabis and hemp, although the former contains higher concentrations than the latter.

Both cannabinoids interact with the brain’s neurotransmitters in the same way, and both CBD and THC can impact mood, how a person sleeps, and their tolerance to pain. They have the same chemical composition: 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and two oxygen atoms.

With that in mind, is there actually any difference between the two cannabinoids? In short, the answer’s yes. CBD and THC get arranged differently on a molecular level. As a result, both CBD and THC impact various aspects of the body in different ways.

CBD and THC interact with the body through its endocannabinoid system, a biological system responsible for regulating many of the body’s processes and keeping them in check.

CBD vs. thc

How Does CBD Affect the Body?

Several cannabinoid receptors exist in the body’s endocannabinoid system, with the two leading receptors being CB1 and CB2.

CB1 receptors are primarily found in the body’s central nervous system, and they’re responsible for overseeing functions like memory, pain, movement and coordination, appetite, and mood.

CB2 receptors are mostly found in the body’s peripheral nervous system, influencing aspects like pain and inflammation.

When CBD gets consumed, it tells the body (via the endocannabinoid system) to release a lot of anandamide. It allows it to circulate within the body for long as it effectively blocks an enzyme that breaks it down.

Anandamide is an endocannabinoid (a cannabinoid made naturally by the body). It offers therapeutic effects similar to THC as it attaches to neurotransmitters and influences a person’s mood, appetite, pain management, and even fertility in women.

Anandamide has a significantly lower potency than THC. Also, anandamide gets produced naturally by the body, whereas THC gets sourced from cannabis. Lastly, CBD doesn’t cause the high that a person would experience with THC.

How Does THC Affect the Body?

Once consumed, THC binds itself to the CB1 receptors in the body. Its psychoactive effects cause people to experience feelings of euphoria, calm, and happiness. It works by fooling the brain into thinking that an abundance of anandamide is circulating in the body.

While many people experience the ‘high’ that THC offers, consuming too much THC can also negatively impact the body. For example, it’s not uncommon for people who over-consume THC to experience feelings of anxiety and paranoia.

CBD doesn’t contain the psychoactive effects of THC, and so people typically only consume THC because they want to get high rather than enjoy the therapeutic benefits of CBD.

Does CBD Oil Without THC Work as Well as CBD Oil With THC?

You may have discovered that some CBD Oils get marketed as “Full Spectrum” or “Broad Spectrum.” A Full Spectrum CBD Oil contains trace amounts of THC, whereas the Broad Spectrum variant is a CBD Oil without THC. Naturally, that is breaking it down as simple as possible. But in reality, both a Full Spectrum and a Broad Spectrum CBD Oil also contains a variety of cannabinoids in addition to CBD.

If you consume CBD Oil with THC, like a Full Spectrum variant, you’ll experience something known as the entourage effect. In a nutshell, many researchers believe CBD and the other cannabinoids work more efficiently with THC.

Does that mean THC-free CBD Oil is a waste of time and money? In short, the answer is no.

Broad Spectrum CBD without THC contains many beneficial phytocannabinoids naturally present in the hemp plant like CBD, CBDa, CBDV, CBC, and CBN. Broad Spectrum CBD products never contain “just” CBD alone (such products are known as “CBD Isolate or Pure CBD Oil”).

Veré Broad spectrum cbd oil is 100% thc-free

Our Broad Spectrum CBD Oil contains the same phytocannabinoids
present in the original hemp plant, including
CBD, CBDa, CBDV, CBC and CBN.
The hemp plant is first processed through an environmentally-friendly CO2 extraction method
to preserve all the cannabinoids. It is in additional winterization and cannabis distillation techniques
where the naturally occurring trace amounts of THC are identified and removed.
Thus, producing a final CBD Oil that is 100% THC-free.

Cannabinoids found in our broad spectrum CBD Oil

In each 500mg tincture there are 30 servings with approximately 17mg of these naturally occurring phytocannabinoids, wrapped in a delicious peppermint flavor:

Cannabidiol (CBD)

CBD is shown to be an impressive antioxidant with the potential to treat a range of inflammatory, age-related and autoimmune disorders.

Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDa)

CBDa has anti-inflammatory and anesthetic effects that may restrict critical inflammatory intermediators to treat pain and arthritis.

Cannabidivarin (CBDV)

A homolog of CBD, CBDV is reported to have potent anti-convulsive effects.

Cannabichromene (CBC)

The cannabinoid CBC contributes to the overall analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antifungal effects of hemp.

Cannabinol (CBN)

CBN is bred from the degradation of THC and is common in mature hemp plants. Research has demonstrated its potential properties as an antibacterial agent and an appetite stimulant.

0% Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)

This cannabinoid is removed during extraction process.

Why Would Someone Choose a CBD Oil Without THC?

CBD Oil without THC offers people various benefits. Firstly, it enables you to experience the therapeutic benefits of CBD without the psychoactive effects that come with THC. The result is you’ll end up consuming a product focused on wellness that leaves you with a clear head.

Secondly, THC-free CBD Oil is unlikely to show up on any drug tests compared with Full Spectrum CBD Oil products. If a CBD Oil gets marketed as having 0% THC, it means you shouldn’t have any issues with drug tests.

Lastly, CBD Oil without THC is perfect for people that want to consume a hemp product that helps them relax and offers the potential for pain relief.

frequently asked questions about thc-free CBD oil

Research and customer anecdotes demonstrate how CBD Extract may benefit a plethora of conditions including anxiety, inflammation, arthritis, joint pain, migraines, pain, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), inflammation and sleep. The disclosed benefits from our Hemp Extract Oil may vary on an individual level since our bodies are all unique; and CBD Extract products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. As a reminder, CBD Oil is best used as a supplement and it is best to consult with a physician first.

Our Full Spectrum Hemp Extract Oil includes cannabinoids (CBD, CBDa, CBDV, CBG, CBC and less than 0.3% THC), terpenes and flavonoids. Conversely, our Broad Spectrum CBD Oil includes a different variety of cannabinoids (CBD, CBDa, CBDV, CBC and CBN). One specific phytocannabinoid you won’t find in this Hemp Extract Oil is THC.

Certain careers require regular drug testing and consumers in these professions tend to gravitate more towards a THC-free Hemp Extract Oil to alleviate any concern for taking a drug test. While our Full Spectrum CBD Hemp Oil and CBD Gummies contain THC, it is less than 0.3% and of legal limit in all 50 states. Still, some consumers prefer a CBD product that is 100% THC-free because it better fits their lifestyle. It all comes down to preference.

CBD Tincture and CBD Oil both contain the cannabinoid Cannabidiol (CBD). Often times, these terms are used interchangeably. Typically, CBD Oil only contains Cannabidiol (CBD)—unless specified as a Full Spectrum or Broad Spectrum—whereas CBD Tincture includes more than just CBD like a variety of cannabinoids.

We admit it’s confusing. To take it one step further, our Broad Spectrum CBD Oil includes CBD plus beneficial cannabinoids CBDa, CBDV, CBC and CBN. We recommend reviewing COAs to verify the cannabinoid profile, purity and potency in any CBD product to ensure the right product for you.

Both Pure CBD Oil and CBD Tincture can help support a variety of health conditions, ranging from stress to pain. While our Pure CBD Oil tests at a minimum 99% CBD purity, our CBD Tincture (full spectrum and broad spectrum) includes additional cannabinoids.

Additionally, our Full Spectrum CBD Tincture contains 0.3% THC which further amplifies the potency of the other cannabinoids. Some consumers prefer a 100% THC-free CBD Oil or CBD Tincture and gravitate more towards the Pure CBD Oil or the Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract Oil. It comes down to lifestyle and preference.

Consumers are choosing to buy our THC-free Hemp Extract Oil to help support a variety of mental and physical health conditions, including anxiety and stress. This CBD Tincture is designed with you in mind, helping you maintain and support your mental well-being and a healthier lifestyle. This includes an enhanced focus and a sense of calm so you can better manage everyday stresses. And as a gentle reminder, a CBD Tincture is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
