How to Find the Right CBD Dose for Me?

To say CBD is a hot topic right now would be an understatement. While there has been a lot of research on cannabinoids and CBD—more specifically—there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to CBD dosage (mg).

By aggregating data from the likes of published research, scientific reports, anecdotal evidence, medical studies and industry-specific forums, we have devised a CBD dosing chart to inform our consumers on finding an optimal and effective dose of CBD. This recommended CBD dosage considers body weight, ailment and severity of symptoms, but there are other variables too which are very specific to the individual.

What Factors Influence CBD Dosing?

Unfortunately, there is no universal dosage of CBD as the dose will vary on factors that differ in each person, including:

  1. Body weight and chemistry
  2. The symptoms and severity of the ailments you are treating
  3. Concentration and potency of the CBD and other cannabinoids in the oil
  4. Delivery system of CBD and whether it is an edible, topical, capsule or oil.
  5. Current medications and supplements

Let’s explore each variable and how it can impact finding the “right” CBD dosage.

CBD & Your Body

Your weight, metabolic rate and CBD tolerance can impact the CBD dosage that’s right for you. Since every body is not the same, there is no universal dosage.

CBD & Your Health Condition

The right CBD dosage is likened to a sliding scale based on the severity of your symptoms. The dosage you would take for an ailment that makes you mildly uncomfortable is less than what you would take to treat a very severe symptom.

potency of CBD

The quantity of concentrated cannabinoids and hemp compounds in the CBD product will impact dosage. The higher the concentration (mg), the greater the potency.

Bioavailability of CBD

Bioavailability of CBD refers to the amount of CBD that the body can process and use. This differs in each delivery system or type of CBD product—edible, topical, capsule or oil. CBD Oil Tinctures, and more notably CBD MCT Oil Tinctures, have the greatest bioavailability as the CBD bypasses the digestive system and is absorbed quickly into the liver. Whereas, with CBD capsules or edibles, the CBD first passes through the digestive system where it is broken down.

Always Consult Your Physician First before taking cbd

We recommend consulting with a physician before starting a CBD regimen. CBD Oil may affect or be affected by medications or supplements you are currently taking so we encourage you to discuss this further with your physician; and we do not recommend that you cease taking any current medications without the proper instructions by a medical practitioner.

How Much CBD Oil Should I take?

On reputable CBD products, the packaging will indicate how much CBD is in the total product as well as how much CBD is in 1 serving. For instance, our Full Spectrum CBD Oil has 500mg cannabinoids in the 30ml bottle. 1 Dropper is considered 1 serving. Therefore, 1 dropper contains nearly 17mg cannabinoids.

If you are starting a CBD regimen and you have consulted your physician, we recommend microdosing to find that optimal dosage. With microdosing, you are dispersing a full day’s serving of CBD across multiple doses throughout the day. With the example of the 17mg of CBD, you would take 4 smaller doses (about 4mg) in the morning, during lunch, in the afternoon and with dinner. Take inventory of how you feel each time and if necessary, skip a dose during the day, depending on how you feel. You may also incrementally increase this dosage each week until you feel the desired effects.

What is Microdosing?

Microdosing CBD is becoming a preferred consumption technique when ingesting CBD. In lieu of consuming a full day’s serving of CBD in a single dosage, microdosing breaks down that daily intake across several doses during the day. This allows your body to maintain steady levels of CBD throughout the day, which research is showing to be of greater health benefit.
